I’m Zat Rana: a writer. I try to express the nuances of the human condition. To this end, I am as inspired by philosophy and science as I am by art and history.

My hope is to fuse wisdom from a range of angles so that I can create a sharper map of reality.  The aim is to go wide as a means to going deep. This approach is well-encapsulated by a note Leonardo da Vinci once wrote to himself:

“Study the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses – especially learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”

I’m not always right, and I’ve written many things I disagree with. I’m fine with that. It allows this to be experimental, and it challenges you to think for yourself.

My old essays are posted on this website, but my new work can only be found at Thinking Better, Together – a subscription-based publication for curious people.
